Low voltage landscape lighting in Mooresville and Lake Norman

We design, install and maintain low voltage landscape lighting across Mooresville, Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville, Denver and the Lake Norman area — path lights along walkways and drives, uplighting on trees and architecture, step and wall lights, and lighting around patios, kitchens and pool decks.

Low voltage is the right system for a residential garden. A transformer drops household power to twelve volts, so the cable running through your beds is safe to work near, fixtures can be moved as planting matures, and adding to the system later does not mean an electrician and a trench. LED draws a fraction of what older halogen systems did, which is what makes it reasonable to leave a garden lit every evening rather than only for guests.

Good landscape lighting is defined by what you cannot see. The fixture should be hidden and the light it throws should be the only thing you notice — a tree canopy lit from below, a wall grazed to bring out its texture, a path readable without a row of glaring hotspots. The commonest mistake is too many fixtures at too high an output, which flattens a garden into a car park. Fewer, better-aimed fixtures almost always look more expensive.

Uplighting the trees you already have

Mature hardwoods are the best lighting asset on most Lake Norman properties and the most commonly wasted one. Two or three well-aimed uplights under a large oak or maple produce more effect after dark than a dozen path lights, and they light the space underneath as a side effect. Where a canopy overhangs a patio or a drive, lighting the tree often removes the need to light the ground at all.

Keeping a system working

Landscape lighting fails gradually rather than all at once — a corroded connector here, a fixture nudged out of aim by a mower, a transformer still on last year's timing so half the winter evening is dark. We service existing systems as well as installing new ones: re-aiming, replacing failed fixtures, repairing cable runs and resetting timers as the seasons shift.

Common questions

What is low voltage landscape lighting?

A system running at twelve volts from a transformer, rather than at household voltage. It is safe to work around, easy to extend or re-aim as planting grows, and with LED fixtures it uses little enough power to run every evening.

How many fixtures does a garden need?

Fewer than most people expect. Lighting is about contrast — a few well-aimed fixtures create depth, while a great many at high output flatten everything and glare. We design to the effect you want after dark, not to a fixture count.

Can you repair a system somebody else installed?

Yes. Most of what we are called to are corroded connections, fixtures knocked out of aim, damaged cable runs and transformers still set to the wrong seasonal timing. Repair is usually far cheaper than replacement.

Will lighting run up the electricity bill?

Not meaningfully. Modern LED landscape fixtures draw a small fraction of the halogen systems they replaced, which is why running a whole garden every evening is now reasonable.

Which towns do you cover?

Mooresville, Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville, Denver, Mount Mourne, Troutman, Statesville, Sherrills Ford and Terrell — across Iredell, Mecklenburg, Lincoln and Catawba counties.
